Ladies Weekend Out is heading back to Mammoth Lakes in the Eastern Sierra, but this time we’re hosting a long weekend of backpacking from Mammoth Lakes to Tuolumne Meadows, in Yosemite National Park!

With the help of our good friends and partners Rab Equipment, Têra Kaia, and Adventure Provisions, we’re hosting another awesome Ladies Weekend Out event this September, 2024! Ten lucky ladies will have the opportunity to backpack from Mammoth Lakes to Tuolumne Meadows, via the Pacific Crest and John Muir Trials, passing through some of the most picturesque terrain in the Eastern Sierra and Yosemite. Our all female guide team could not be more excited about leading another exceptional group of woman from Mammoth Lakes to Tuolumne Meadows next summer, 2024!

Ladies Weekend Out Mammoth to Yosemite backpacking is 5 days and 4 nights in total and includes 4 days of guided backpacking and 4 nights camping in Mammoth Lakes and Yosemite National Park, a Têra Kaia top, and dehydrated dinners provided by our partner Adventure Provisions. Our Ladies Weekend Out events are quickly becoming the go-to, all female climbing and backpacking events to attend! The smaller group size sets the stage for a more intimate weekend where participants get to know one-another and receive more personalized instruction and guidance. The relationships formed from our LWO events is what makes these weekends so special and such a success!   • FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH

    Day 1 - We’ll meet in Tuolumne Meadows the day before your trip begins, leave the cars, and shuttle to Mammoth Lakes. Upon arrival to Mammoth we’ll review your backpacking gear for the trip, then make our way towards Agnew Meadows where we’ll camp for the first night.

    SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7TH

    Day 2 - We’ll have a casual start to the day, pack up camp and head towards Thousand Island Lake where our next campsite will be. We’ll gain a little over 2,300’ in 8+ miles this first day. As we near camp get ready for some spectacular views of Thousand Island Lake, nestled under the spectacular Ritter Range!

    SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 8TH

    Day 3 - We’ll be hiking from Thousand Island Lake to Marie Lakes, a little system of lakes tucked away under Rodgers Peak and Pass. We’ll gain over 1,800’ in nearly 6 miles as we make our way back to Marie Lakes. Along the way we’ll pass by other lakes such as Davis Lake and the larger, Waugh Lake.

    MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH

    Day 4 - We’ll pack up at Marie Lakes and head towards Yosemite National Park and Lyell Canyon via Donahue Pass. Depending on where we decide to camp in Lyell Canyon, we’ll do roughly 8 miles of hiking with 1,200’ of elevation gain and nearly 3,100’ of elevation loss, so we’re hiking down for most of the day. Once we ascend the famous Donahue Pass (11,000’) we’ll be treated with spectacular views of Lyell Canyon in Yosemite National Park!

    TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH

    Day 5 - On our fifth and final day, we’ll pack up camp in Lyell Canyon and head towards beautiful Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. During our last day we’ll pass through some of the most breathtaking meadows you’ll set your eyes on in the Sierra as we head towards Tuolumne Meadows. Upon your arrival in Tuolumne, we’ll head to the cars, unload our gear, and say our goodbyes. This day has us hiking over 8 miles with minimal elevation gain or loss.

  • Ladies Weekend Out will provide dehydrated meals for each night in the backcountry. All guests will be responsible for their own breakfast, lunch, and snacks each day during the trip. We can also provide a bear canister for any guest in need of this item.

    This is a great trip for the beginner to intermediate backpacker looking to expand on previous, shorter trips, and gain more confidence in their backcountry skills.
